How a Cat works

The catalytic converter consists of a honeycomb-shaped metal structure with a surface coating of various precious metals (palladium, rhodium and platinum). These metals convert the toxic carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbons into non-toxic carbon dioxide and water vapor.
