Function of Lever protectors

The guards protect the brake and clutch levers in case of a crash and thus allow for resuming the race. The lever protectors also prevent involuntary braking maneuvers during contact with other riders. Last but not least, lever guards also reduce the risk of injury to the rider, fingers can no longer be trapped between the lever and handlebar.
