THE CLUTCH - CENTRAL COMPONENT OF THE SCOOTER DRIVE
In scooters with automatic transmission, the clutch works in conjunction with variator and torque drive. The function of the clutch is to separate the engine and transmission from each other until a speed necessary for starting or accelerating is reached. Clutch springs of different strengths influence the point at which the clutch engages and are particularly useful after upgrading to a high-revving cylinder. For a 50cc engine with manual transmission ... the clutch is also part of the drive between engine and gearbox, but in contrast to the automatic centrifugal clutch in a CVT, it is operated manually. By using a clutch, the gears can be shifted effectively in order to transfer the power of the engine to the primary shaft of the transmission and, in a last step, to drive the wheel.
HARDER CLUTCH SETTINGS FOR TUNING
A worn clutch can be identified by the fact that the take-offs and pull are deteriorating. The symptoms are many and varied: the clutch slips, the idle gear cannot be engaged properly, engaging and disengaging becomes harder and harder, and the transmission jerks. We offer high-quality replacement clutches for many scooter and moped models, e.g. from RMS or Motoforce
For Sport and Mid Race configurations we carry Sport and Racing clutches which delay clutch engagement, either by harder clutch springs and on some clutch models via additional weights, to improve acceleration
Tuning clutches for scooters with automatic transmissions are reinforced in their basic structure and design to withstand the higher speeds of performance-enhanced engines
For geared mopeds with disc clutch, tuners use reinforced clutch discs with optimized carbon linings to improve clutch behaviour. It results in optimum grip with minimum slip, and heat dissipation is also improved, which is very advantageous for heavily tuned engines
In addition, we sell clutch springs in different strengths and clutch bells in our online shop for sport, racing and high-end setups, so you'll find the right part no matter what setup or use. For mopeds with manual transmission there is a wide range of clutch discs to choose from.
