Exhaust
DESIGN AND FUNCTION OF A SCOOTER EXHAUST
Exhausts have the function to discharge the exhaust gases produced during combustion. Due to legal reasons, original equipment manufacturers equip their vehicles with retricted exhausts to make them road legal (homologation). In the tuning sector, it has become commonplace to upgrade scooters and mopeds with so-called expansion chambers exhausts - exhaust gases push their way into the expansion chamber which is already occupied by gas from previous cycles, pushing that gas ahead and causing a wave to the front. This leads to improved cylinder filling and ultimately more power. ...
Stock exhausts are rather slim and look inconspicuous, the sound is dampened by a silencer. Maximum speed is limited in this type of exhaust, it is artificially restricted. Tuning exhausts consist of four parts: header pipe, a body which is usually welded from several cones, a stinger pipe and a silencer. As a rule of thumb, shorter exhaust systems favour high engine speeds, while longer exhausts favour the lower speed range, resulting in better acceleration.
In our shop you will find exhausts for scooters (with CVT), mopeds / supermotards (with gearbox), vintage mopeds such as Peugeot 103 and Vespa.
EXHAUSTS FOR ALL USES AND MANY MODELS
Exhausts are probably the most popular tuning component in the scooter scene, and for many riders the purchase of a tuning exhaust marks the beginning of a long journey to build the perfect custom bike. Almost all leading brands such as MXS Racing, Stage6, Malossi, Polini, carry exhausts for various applications at fair prices.
Our OEM quality exhausts are basically identical to the stock parts - performance, layout, shape and look are the same, so they can simply be swapped with the original exhausts. These exhausts are relatively quiet, are street-legal and are the perfect fit for the original cylinders. Manufacturers such as LeoVince / Sito have specialized in this area, with high-quality OEM quality exhausts at small prices.
We also carry exhausts for light tuning projects (sport / mid-race), they are more efficient than the original mufflers and provide a noticeable performance boost, ideal for 50cc or 70cc sports and midrace kits. They are also often available in a variety of finishes, clear or chrome plated to give your scooter a fetching custom look.
Racing and high-end exhausts are not legal for road use and can only be used on private properties, racetracks and events. Some of them are incredibly powerful and thus only suitable for heavily tuned 70cc to 90cc kits. The top-of-the-line models in this sector are also weight-reduced and are sometimes sold with a chrome finish, most of them come with a classic untreated racing finish, however.
When choosing an exhaust you should always consider the entire setup, the exhaust should match the cylinder and complement it, so that when everything is assembled the full potential of all components can be realized.
