Newfren - company history

The story of Newfren began in Turin in the late 1950s. Alessandro Barbero, an avid two-wheeler, began reconditioning worn brake shoes by replacing the pads. Soon this reconditioning was no longer enough to meet the demands of the growing market.

Barbero was a creative person and developed a new gluing technology that made it possible to do without rivets (a real technical revolution for production). The technology was further improved through the use of special machines designed specifically for this task. This was followed by a patent for water-repellent friction material, which solved the problems of drum brakes in wet conditions.

The company made the transition to the now widely used disc brakes without any problems and became very successful in this sector as well.

Innovation, reliability, top quality made in Italy and a future-oriented approach is what makes the Barbero family brand so special until today.
